Nature house in Leppäjärvi

We, Lysander and Jesse, are two brothers who moved to Finland in 2021. We were lucky enough to find a beautiful place for us to share with other travelers, a farm built in 1948, located right between two large national parks and only 20km from the Norwegian border. Here we spend most of our time watching our potatoes grow. We all live together in the wood-heated main house and share the kitchen, shower and sauna.

You can explore our surroundings in both summer and winter, including the nearby Lijankivaara fell, from where you can see as far as Norway, and the large lake Lijankijärvi, which we often visit for fishing. The seasons are very noticeable in this region. Before spring begins, there is a long period when the sun shines for more than twelve hours, but the snow has not yet melted and is covered with a hard layer of snow. This is the best time to grab your skis and explore new places. Spring only takes a week or so, then everything is green and before you know it, you've arrived in summer, where the sun shines all day long. When the nights come back and get longer, autumn sets in. The weather gets wet and invites you to sit in front of the fire and enjoy a hot chocolate in preparation for the long winter.
