Nature house in Mantet

The nature house consists of 2 gîtes, authentic nature houses. They are located in the old shepherd village Mantet at 1500m altitude and surrounded by mountains up to 2700m high The houses were rebuilt in natural stone on the foundations of 2 ruins. They look rustic but still have the necessary comfort! The nature house "le lierre" is overgrown with ivy. You enter on the second floor where you find the well-equipped kitchen, the spacious sitting area with wood stove and the dining table. A staircase takes you to the second floor where you find the 3 bedrooms, the bathroom, the separate toilet and a spacious panoramic terrace with beautiful mountain views. Mantet is a small isolated mountain village that you can reach by car along a narrow winding road over the col de Mantet. The nearest supermarket is a 45-minute drive away in Prades. So we recommend that you do your shopping before coming to the village so that you can fully enjoy the mountains during your stay!

The beautifully restored mountain village of Mantet is a 3-hour walk from the Spanish border between the mythical Mount Canigou and the massif of Carança. The GR10 hiking trail that crosses the pyrenees from Banyuls to Henday passes through the village. Several hiking trails leave from the village, 10 minutes to the river or a day trip to the sources of Mantet or to Pla Segalla, there is no lack of possibilities! You can spot different species of vultures, cross chamois and marmots or be surprised by butterflies you had never heard of.The Mantet National Nature Reserve (Mantet RNN),is a protected natural area created by ministerial decree on September 17, 1984 with the aim of preserving an exceptional natural heritage.
