Nature house in Cassagnoles

Our vacation home is located in the attic of the main house and has a separate entrance. Eric and Mieke, the owners, have their own cottage next to the main house. The vacation home is equipped with all modern amenities. We’ve tried to preserve the home’s authentic character while incorporating contemporary furnishings. Each room has its own shower room, and there’s a room with a bunk bed for three children. The sauna is located in this children’s room. We’re a half-hour drive (to Olonzac) from major stores, a bakery, butchers, pharmacies, and so on, which is why a large refrigerator and freezer are provided. Since we live largely self-sufficiently, this farm is partly self-sufficient. All kinds of products—such as various vegetables, our own meat products, bread, jam, eggs, and other items—are available (depending on the season). If you don’t feel like cooking, Eric will prepare tasty meals and Mieke will provide a delicious dessert (for a small additional fee).

Our farm is situated on 56 hectares, with two small rivers flowing through our property. We have a mix of meadows and deciduous forest. At an elevation of 560 meters, it cools down enough in the evening to ensure a restful night’s sleep. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking and biking. You can swim in the pool or in the natural pools along the rivers. You can also enjoy spending time with our farm animals. The nearest village and neighbors are 3 km away. Attractions such as Minerve (car-free), Caunes, and Homps (Canal du Midi) are about a 20-minute drive away, while Carcassonne and the coast are about an hour’s drive away. In July and August, there’s a local market on Sundays in our village, which also has a restaurant. A larger market takes place every Tuesday in the picturesque village of Olonzac. The surrounding wineries are definitely worth a visit for a wine tasting. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the peace, quiet, and breathtaking natural beauty.
