Our cottage is located in the middle of the Betuwe between fruit orchards and meadows in the Ommeren field. In this part of Rivierenland you can easily reach the dikes and floodplains along the rivers Rijn, Waal, Maas and Linge by bike. The cottage consists of a luxurious living/dining room with complete kitchen on the ground floor and a spacious bedroom plus bathroom with shower and second toilet on the second floor. The cottage has a covered terrace and private garden with driveway. It is an excellent base for cyclists (Knooppuntenroutes), hikers (Klompenpaden), golfers (the Betuwe, 27 holes at about 3 km.) and people who like to combine the pleasures of the countryside with (cultural) trips to, for example, Hanseatic city Tiel, Orange Town Buren or the cities of Wageningen, Arnhem, Nijmegen, Den Bosch and Utrecht, which are all about half an hour away.
Nature and surroundings
The Ommerens Field is a mixed agricultural area with within walking distance of vacation home The Walnut some wooden shoes paths and country estate Den Eng with regional history museum Baron van Brakel. The village of Lienden (7 km) has a shopping center for groceries. The Betuwe villages Ingen (historic core, 4 km), Eck en Wiel (Heerlijkheid Eck en Wiel, 7 km), Maurik, Erichem, Zoelen, Echteld (castle, 5 km) and Kesteren are easily accessible by bicycle via rural roads. Those in Eck en Wiel who cross the Lower Rhine by ferry will pass Kasteel Amerongen (definitely worth a visit) and can explore the wooded Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Hanseatic city Tiel (8 km) with its historic center houses, among other things, the Flipje and Regional Museum and a flowery butterfly garden. Those who drive from Tiel along the Waal dike have a panoramic view of the floodplains and the river Waal. Via the villages of Ophemert, Varik and Heesselt, among others, the route leads to Neerijnen with two castles and a beautiful church.
