Nature and surroundings

In the IJssel valley, with the Veluwe on the west side and the IJssel on the east side, lies the Hiemberg nature reserve between Eerbeek and Zutphen. You can walk and cycle between fields, bushes and shrubs. Landgoed Voorstonden borders the Hiemberg, as well as the Empese and Tondense heather with its fens, wet heaths and sparse grasslands. The nearby Leusveld estate is known for its orchids. From our cottage you can walk straight into the Voorstonden forest. Both Brummen and Eerbeek are within cycling distance for shopping. The Hanseatic cities with their beautiful historic centers are well worth visiting and within cycling distance: Zutphen (7.6 km) Bronckhorst (10.7 km) Doesburg (15.6 km) Deventer (17.2 km).

The cottage was very clean and practically furnished. The kitchenette is handy if you want to cook for yourself, and it’s lovely to sit outside. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it.

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days away and slept wonderfully. It was very peaceful; the grounds are a beautiful place to sit and walk around, and we went on some lovely walks and bike rides and were able to visit Zutphen. In short, it’s a wonderful place to completely unwind.
