Nature house in Hoek

The cottage was okay overall, with some nice personal touches (a stuffed kingfisher! A peek through the staircase!). However, I would have liked to have a TV (as I just realized). I didn’t miss the dishwasher, though. The main downside, in my opinion, was that the cottage is very dark. Even when the weather is beautiful, you have to turn on the lights pretty quickly. Maybe a few more kitchen items: a cheese slicer, a toaster....Other than that, lovely hosts who’ve turned it into their own little paradise, and a sweet dog!

A cool cottage in the summer, thanks to the natural shade from the trees, does indeed have the downside of blocking some light. But with summers like we’re having these days, we’d still choose the coolness.
Too bad we overlooked the cheese slicer.

Huisje was op zich ok met leuke persoonlijke details (opgezette ijsvogel! Doorkijkje bij de trap!). Ik zou echter toch wel graag een tv hebben (kwam ik nu achter). Afwasmachine dan weer niet gemist. Voornaamste nadeel vond ik dat het huisje erg donker is. Zelfs met prachtig weer moet je al snel lichten aan. Misschien iets meer keukenspullen: kaasschaaf, broodrooster....verder lieve beheerders die er hun paradijs van hebben gemaakt en een lieve hond!

Een koel huisje in de zomer, door de natuurlijke schaduw van de bomen, heeft inderdaad als nadeel dat er licht weggenomen wordt. Maar met de huidige zomers kiezen we toch voor de koelte.
Jammer dat de kaasschaaf over het hoofd gezien is.

It was a lovely spot, and we were so lucky with the weather! The fenced-in yard was also great, so the dog could run around freely.

Mooi plekje en we boften enorm met het weer! Zo fijn ook de omheinde tuin, zodat de hond vrij rond kon scharrelen.

I highly recommend it!

We had a wonderful time!
It’s a lovely cottage with comfortable beds and a nice shower. The owners were very friendly and welcomed us with fresh eggs, cookies, and a treat for the dog!
The fenced-in yard was spacious and delightful. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the sweeping view of the meadows.
There’s a small forest just a short walk away where we could take the dog for a walk.
The locks in Terneuzen are really fun to see, along with a boat tour through the harbor.
The Industrial Museum in Sas van Gent is also very interesting. Volunteers give guided tours.
The ‘t Vlasschuurken Museum in Koewacht is also worth a quick visit, though its opening hours are limited. You can get a nice guided tour there as well.

We hebben het erg leuk gehad!
Het is een fijn huisje, goede bedden en douche. Aardige eigenaren en ontvangst met verse eieren, blussen en een snack voor de hond!
De omheinde tuin was ruim en heerlijk. We konden lekker buiten zitten en hadden weids uitzicht over de weilanden.
Er is een klein bos, waar je zo heen kon lopen om de hond uit te laten.
De sluizen van Terneuzen zijn erg leuk om te bekijken samen met een rondvaart door de haven.
Ook het Industrieel museum in Sas van Gent is erg interessant. Vrijwilligers geven een rondleiding
Ook museum 't Vlasschuurken in koewacht is leuk om even te kijken, maar beperkt open Je krijgt daar ook een leuke rondleiding.

The cottage is located on the property of a very hospitable owner.
We were warmly welcomed—and, to our surprise, treated to fresh Zeeland bolus, eggs from the owner’s own chickens, and a treat for our dog.
The cottage is very practical and cozy, and every detail has been thought of.
There are more than enough kitchen supplies.
The shower and bed are wonderful, and it’s so nice that the bed is made and there’s plenty of linens.
Outside, the spacious garden is also lovely, with plenty of spots offering natural shade or sun.
Beautiful views and, above all, very peaceful.
We’ve come to appreciate Zeeuws-Vlaanderen for its nature and culture.
It’s a great place for cycling, and there are places to walk the dog nearby.
We really had a wonderful time.

Het huisje staat op het erf van zeer gastvrije eigenaar.
Werden vriendelijk ontvangen, met tot onze verrassing verse zeeuwse bolus, eitjes van eigen kipjes en een traktatie voor onze hond.
Het huisje is heel praktisch en gezellig ingericht en overal is aan gedacht.
Keuken benodigdheden ruim voldoende aanwezig.
Heerlijke douche en bed en wat fijn dat het bed opgemaakt staat en er ruim voldoende linnengoed aanwezig is.
Buiten is het in de ruime tuin ook heerlijk, met veel plekjes natuurlijke schaduw of zon mogelijkheden.
Mooi uitzicht en vooral heel rustig.
We hebben Zeeuws-Vlaanderen qua natuur en cultuur leren waarderen.
Je kunt heerlijk fietsen, hondenuitlaatmogelijkheden zijn dicht in de buurt.
We hebben het echt heel fijn gehad.
