This beautiful nature house is situated in a quiet, sunny, and wonderfully private location. Quiet, dark nights and the sound of birds singing set the pace of life here. Behind the living room, you’ll find two bedrooms with truly comfortable beds, wonderfully warm down comforters, warm bedding, and an electric blanket. For cooler moments, there are warm throws and a gas and electric heater. The cabin has a bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, an induction cooktop, and everything you need for cooking. There is no oven. Lounge on the porch, relax in the hammock, unwind and enjoy each other’s company in the private hot tub next to the tent or the sauna on the wellness patio, and enjoy the warm flames at the fire pit with outdoor cooking options. The food forest with its organic garden, our charming farmhouse, and the old farmyard with its moat—each of these elements contributes to the atmosphere of this place. With all its amenities, it’s also perfect for a wonderful winter camping experience.

Nature and surroundings

The Vriekel Tent is situated a good distance from two other tents in a young food forest. Special cultivation techniques are used among the trees on the farm. Our authentic farmhouse from 1869, with its farmyard and moat, is part of our agricultural cultural heritage. These days, our farm has no cows, horses, pigs, or chicken coops, but rather small-scale, free-range poultry. No heavy machinery or tractors, just manual labor and small electric tools. No parched and depleted soil—just small-scale regenerative agriculture. A small community with many friends, harvest-sharing participants, biodiversity, and greenery, located on Groningen’s oldest dike and surrounded by organic farmers. Very close to the city of Groningen, yet completely peaceful. You can borrow bicycles to explore the city or the surrounding area. Nearby, you’ll find the Reitdiep region; visit Middag-Humsterland, the mound settlements, the mudflats, or take a day trip to beautiful Schiermonnikoog.

All right, the tent was clean, and the hot tub was clean. We were greeted very warmly and were given a tour right away.

The tents are nicely tucked away among the bushes and small trees

What does “Fireworks-free” mean?
The host indicates that the area is firework-free. Firework-free means that no firework bangs can be heard in and around the accommodation. You might occasionally hear some noise or see some light from fireworks set off outside the immediate area. It is important that you agree with the landlord on what you can expect.
