Nature house in Tortosa
Catalonia, Spain
- 6 persons
- 3 bedrooms
- WiFi
- Pets allowed
Our lovely Nature House is still available during spring break! A comfortable spacious 140m2 house with 1-2 or 3 bedrooms under the Mediterranean sun. Suitable for 1 couple, or 2, with or without smaller children, or up to 6 friends. It is located on a hilltop in its own olive grove, overlooking the Ebro Delta on one side and Tortosa and the Els Ports mountain range on the other. There is a roof terrace, and two other terraces on either side of the house, and lots of space in the garden for hammocks, chairs and a picnic table. It is on a very quiet road, above the town of Tortosa. The house is largely self-sufficient: we get water from a common well and have solar panels that provide us with enough electricity. Heating is done with two powerful stoves, 1 of which feeds the heater. The house is beautiful and comfortable inside and out. You have to be prepared for silence and remoteness though! The train is nearby, and you will need a (rental) car.
Nature and surroundings
The house is in the middle of a very interesting region. A 40-minute drive away you will find the wide beaches of the Deltebre, or the small coves of the Costa Daurada. There is a path along the entire coast to walk and discover quiet beaches that are difficult to reach by car. The region is known for its gastronomy; fish, oysters, tuna, rice, fresh fruits and vegetables. There are some good restaurants in the towns, in the Delta and upstream of the Ebro. In the mountains of Els Ports there are many hiking trails, leading past waterfalls or into the higher mountains. Tortosa is a nice, largely undiscovered town with some interesting sights such as the castle, cathedral and central market. A little further away are Reus and Tarragona, lively and historic cities respectively. The cities of Barcelona and Valencia are respectively 1.5 and 2 hours away by (fast) train or car. Wild nature, mountains, sea, rivers, waterfalls or cities: we have it!

Gert September 26, 2024 General rating:The house was spacious with a large plot and beautiful views. However, the state of maintenance was poor with much clutter around the house and a poorly kept garden. Landlord's response: We are currently building an extra room, which is why there are some building materials on 1 (unused) side of the house for follow-up work. In addition, we deliberately do not mow part of the year, in order to increase the biodiversity of both plants and animals. In recent years it has been extremely dry and we do less of an assault on the garden, to increase resilience. Most of our guests take great pleasure in the (wild) flowers and shrubs, and in the visits of the bee catchers and foxes.
Nature, peace & environment:Beautiful location and very quiet. Minor setback was the presence of quite a few windmills.
Prachtig gelegen en erg rustig. Kleine tegenvaller was de aanwezigheid van een flink aantal windmolens.

Fijne slaapkamers, knus woonkamertje met functioneel open keuken en heerlijke houtkachel.
