A wonderful place to stay at the Koningsspil cabin, for those who want a bit of a back-to-basics experience in the middle of the polder... This waterfront cabin is charmingly decorated with a nod to the past. The cabin features two single beds, a fully equipped kitchenette with a 2-burner electric stovetop, cookware, a refrigerator, and a small convection oven. A small wood-burning stove is available for colder days. NEW! > Each cabin has its own bathroom in the adjacent restroom facility <. When the weather is nice, it’s wonderful to relax on the waterfront terrace and watch the sunset. Duvets and pillows are provided as standard. Bed linens are available for a small fee. In the heart of the Puollen polder (next to the Puollen polder mill), surrounded by farmland where the wind still blows freely, it’s a wonderful place to relax in the midst of nature. On clear nights, you can see the stars or the beams of light on the horizon from the lighthouses of Ameland, Terschelling, and Vlieland. Young cattle graze in the surrounding meadows, and swans and other waterbirds cheerfully call out to you as you sit on the terrace of the cabins. During the breeding season (and beyond), Black-tailed Godwits, Oystercatchers, Redshanks, as well as many other species such as Ruff, Wigeons, and Goldeneyes, make their home in the Puollen polder. Many birdwatchers love to stop by here to check things out. It’s also a great base from which to explore the surrounding area by car, bike, or on foot. Welcome to the land of the Oude Zee.
