Nature house in Empe

Our fully furnished guesthouse, with a large covered porch, is located on a sandy dead-end road and offers plenty of privacy. Next to the house is a large lawn with an unobstructed view of meadows and fields. Roe deer and storks come right up to the house, and rabbits, hares, and other wildlife drink from the pond on the property. Our guesthouse is heated by a wood-burning stove (CO2 detector installed), and the bedrooms have radiant heating panels. The house is well insulated. After renovating the living area, we refurbished the recreation room. It features, among other things, a pool table, a shuffleboard, a foosball table, a piano, and a dartboard. The closet contains various family games, as does the room behind the guesthouse. Next to the porch is a large iron fire pit where you can burn wood. If the children want to camp in their own little tent in our large garden, that’s no problem for us.

There are various biking and hiking trails starting from the location. The nature reserves—De Empese Heide, De IJsselvallei, De Imbosch, the Loenermark, and the Hoge Veluwe in Otterlo/Hoenderloo—are in the immediate vicinity. The beautiful Hanseatic cities of Zutphen (5.8 km), Deventer (14 km), and Doesburg (22 km) are nearby. A lovely recreational area called “Bussloo,” featuring a spa and sauna, is located 5 km from Empe. You can combine a visit to the Open Air Museum and Burgers Zoo in Arnhem; the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo (closed on Mondays); the More Museum (Modern Realism) in Gorssel, which can be combined with the More Museum (realistic art by Karel Willink) in Ruurlo, or golfing in Brummen at Groot Engelenburg; a boat trip on the IJssel River, a ride on an electric boat through Zutphen, etc. There are also plenty of options for children, such as De Spelerij/Uitvinderij in Dieren, where they can make things themselves using tools and materials; making their own paper at the paper mill in Loenen; or a ride on the steam train combined with a cruise on a saloon boat.
