In the "other" Friesland, surrounded by forests and overlooking the typical coulisse landscape, you will find our horse stable converted into a Tiny house. Private garden, privacy, peace and quiet and a sunset you can't stop looking at. Eye to eye with buzzard, deer or badger? It can happen just like that. In summer you will find refreshment under the stately oaks. In winter, the Norwegian wood stove keeps you nice and warm. In all seasons you are more than welcome in our Stable. There is a double bed, located under the living room, where you snuggle in at night. And there is a cozy sleeping loft for two adults or two children. Furthermore, the Stal is furnished with living room, kitchen with refrigerator and bathroom with shower and toilet. All kitchen utensils, incl coffee, tea, pepper, salt and olive oil are provided. There is no central heating, lovers of a wood stove can fire to their heart's content. Behind our yard is another nature house, the Wagon. Suitable to book both with a group or a large family.
Nature and surroundings
The Stable is located in Donkerbroek in the most southeastern tip of Friesland. Groningen and Drenthe are just around the corner. The landscape in this area is less distinctly Frisian: no endless meadows and lakes, but instead many woods and tree walls, interspersed with meadows. Surrounded by beautiful nature reserves where it is excellent walking or cycling. Lauswolt, Olterterp, Duurswouderheide, Fochteloerveen, National Park Drents-Friese Wold including Appelscha. The prison village Veenhuizen, brewery Maallust, a day of sauna in Boijl, the picturesque village Oldeberkoop. Every day you can go in a different direction and many areas are easy to reach by bike from the Stal. There are 2 excellent MTB routes and for children within cycling distance is the play forest Sparjebird, the climbing tower in the Koningsdiep and the playground in Bakkeveen. Who still wants to rent a boat to go on the Frisian Lakes: Drachten offers it! And who wants to go out on the town: within half an hour you are in Leeuwarden or Groningen.
