Nature house in Rien

Historically restored small farm workers house (national monument). When I found it in dilapidated condition it contained a stable and hayloft. Now it has an open and light structure. The stable/garden room is spacious and you look at the roof and a huge piece of glass This room functions as a living room with door to the garden. Downstairs there is a lockable study/bedroom with 2 pers box spring. There is a hall and a kitchen with old Bruynzeel kitchenette, 2 burner stove, oven and enough materials to cook extensively. Next to the kitchen there is a small, comfortable shower/toilet room. Upstairs is the romantic sleeping loft with a view and an urban jungle seating area. There is a washer and dryer upstairs and another sofa bed. The nature house is heated by 2 gas stoves. There is a deep, narrow garden, richly planted and with a lovely sitting area with garden stove and a hammock. This house is for lovers of design. Sophisticated simplicity

Rien is one of dozens of Frisian mini-villages in the heart of the province. It is home to 100 people. There are no stores, no church, no pub. It is a protected village sight and the old Franeker (trek) Vaart runs through it. There are plenty of opportunities for boating, walking and cycling from the village. There are several routes through and along the village to various bird-watching huts and other historic villages such as Jorwerd, Mantgum and Franeker, etc. A little further away in the province, Oranjewoud, Beetsterzwaag and Oudemirdum are my favorite hiking and cultural destinations.
