The 4-hectare property features 5 lodges, each with a cozy living room featuring large windows so you can spot the many birds in the area. And if you’re patient, you’ll see deer passing by. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and oven. Next to the two-person bedroom is a spacious bathroom with a sink, toilet, and walk-in shower. From your own garden, you can walk straight into the nature reserve, surrounded by various native plants such as hawthorns, sea buckthorns, and a real hazel grove. The nature house is located almost directly on the waters of the Oosterschelde, tucked away in a sheltered, tree-lined corner between the small beach at Burghsluis and the Plompetoren. We were warmly welcomed to a unique piece of land with lots of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Thanks to the tall vegetation, there’s plenty of privacy between the five cottages. It was wonderful to have breakfast outside in the morning sun. We heard various birds, but they were well camouflaged. Given the farm’s location in the outskirts of Burgh-Haamstede, near the dike, there is little to no traffic. Occasionally, we heard a farm vehicle early in the morning. The cottage is small but cozy. It’s well-furnished with a focus on space-saving design. Everything you need is there. We didn’t miss a thing. The wastewater system was also surprising—thanks to a kind of biological filter, all the water stays within the farm.
