Nature house in Makkinga

Hidden behind rhododendrons is our guest cottage completely private. The cottage is surrounded by the greenery of our 1 acre lush woodland garden and overlooks our own forest. This is where nature comes to you, both literally and figuratively. A stay in the comfortable guesthouse brings you to a standstill. Experience peace and quiet and darkness. Marvel at the wallabies that have their home in this area and in our garden. The cottage has a cozy living room, a spacious double bedroom with Tempur mattresses, a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a two-burner stove, coffee machine and all kitchen utensils. The relaxation room with single bed has its own toilet, shower and sauna (sauna to be booked on site). Minimum stay 2 nights.The cottage is also ideal for rest and meditation (watching TV is possible with own account data).

Makkinga is located in the southeast corner of Friesland, at the intersection of the border of Drenthe and Friesland. Within cycling distance of our cottage you will find a number of impressive nature reserves such as the Drents-Friese Wold and the Fochtelooerveen. For guests who love nature, hiking and cycling, this area is ideal. National Park Drents-Friese Wold is, after the Veluwe, the largest contiguous nature reserve in the Netherlands. Besides forest, the Drents-Friese Wold is especially known for the drifting sand area De Kale Duinen (the Aekingerzand). The Drents Friese-Wold is excellent for short and long walks and cycling tours via cycle junctions. In the Fochtelooerveen the crane breeds and the observation tower offers a fantastic view. Ideal for bird spotters. Shopping cities such as Groningen and Leeuwarden are also within easy reach from Makkinga. For interesting museums you don't have to drive far. Oosterwolde, for daily shopping, is 5 minutes away by car.
