Nature and surroundings
The Fort is part of the New Dutch Waterline, a line of defense that could only be started in 1845. This line runs from Muiden to the Biesbosch and contains more than 60 fortifications. A tower fort built in 1845. Already in 1878 a major reconstruction takes place: the construction of the Contrescarp.
