In the hamlet Nettelhorst, located in the silence area between Lochem and Geesteren, surrounded by the characteristic coulisse landscape of the Achterhoek, in a walking and cycling route network, is our yard. In the middle of the over 1 ha food forest under construction is a rustic farmhouse from 1931 which has been split, the fully separated front house of the farmhouse has been converted by us into a cozy vacation home for 2 people. The stylish house has a spacious garden, a robust kitchen, a cozy living room, a bedroom with oak double bed with fresh bedding, a shower and separate toilet,. Optionally, the nature house can be set up with 2 single bedrooms. The ceilings are filled with a layer of paper flakes, the outside walls are insulated with wood fiber boards and equipped with wall heating, and all walls are plastered with clay, which provides a wonderful experience all year round, refreshingly cool in summer, comfortably warm in winter.

Our farm is located at the edge of the municipality of Berkelland, near the Bolksbeek, at node 43 of the regional cycle route network, the Boereneschpad, a wooden shoe path, runs along the end of the street. All this makes the area very suitable for cycling, hiking, relaxing or for a romantic weekend getaway. In the vicinity are endless walks through the woods and many beautiful ancient estates and castles to admire. The cozy village square of Lochem (with railway station) is 7 km away and the picturesque village of Geesteren was named "most beautiful village of Gelderland" as recently as 2017. Nearby Zutphen (25km) , just on the good side of the IJssel, is the urban pearl of the east. We ourselves have planted some 1200 small trees and shrubs on our former lawn, and these will grow into a full-fledged Food Forest Eik & Linde in the coming years. All in all, a wonderful place for a short vacation or week(s) away!
