The apartment is located in the historic center of a small medieval village, at an elevation of about 800 meters above sea level, at the entrance to a nature reserve. The air here is fresh and clean, the surroundings are quiet, and the nights are starry thanks to the absence of light pollution. The recently renovated apartment retains its exposed wooden beams, unplastered walls, and glimpses of mountain stone. The apartment is spread over two floors: a living room with a fully equipped kitchenette, a sofa bed, and a bathroom with a shower on the ground floor; a master bedroom with a private bathroom and a small bedroom with two single beds on the first floor. The furnishings are rustic in style but very functional and pleasant. The apartment is equipped with heating and an 80-liter water heater. The ground-floor bathroom includes a washing machine and a clothesline. The two floors are connected by a terracotta staircase with a barrel vault, and the entrance door opens onto a charming, recently restored alley in the village.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located at the entrance to the Cornate and Fosini Nature Reserve, which offers an extensive network of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, as well as the opportunity to observe and photograph protected animals and plants. The small medieval village of Gerfalco, where the apartment is located, is part of a UNESCO project and hosts the Festival delle Viole, during which seminars and concerts featuring ancient instruments are held. By car, you can reach the medieval town of Massa Marittima and the coast in about half an hour; in about an hour, you can reach the art cities of Siena, Florence, and Pisa, as well as many small villages, hot springs, Etruscan archaeological sites, and nature parks. In addition, you can enjoy local specialties and products at the many small restaurants and wineries in the area. E-bike, horseback riding, and car rental with a driver are available.
