This is a charming, well-loved gîte for two, sitting in the heart of Le Moulin de Pensol and looking out over the lawn, peach trees and the gentle River Bandiat. Step out of the front door and you're directly onto the Sentier du Bandiat, a beautiful riverside walking route connecting to miles of trails through the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin. Back inside, sink into the sofa with aching legs and a glass of wine — The nature house is the kind of place where time slows down beautifully. The double bedroom has a newly renovated en suite shower room. The fully equipped kitchenette has everything for lazy breakfasts and unhurried suppers. Your private terrace with garden furniture and exclusive BBQ looks out over the river and grounds. Free WiFi, bed linen and towels included. Dogs very welcome.
Nature and surroundings
Eight hectares of rewilded land in the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin surround the gîtes — wildflower meadows with mown paths winding through them, ancient woodland, and new ponds already alive with pool frogs, agile frogs and great diving beetles. The River Bandiat, one of only eight rivers in France to host the freshwater pearl mussel, flows through the heart of the site. Sixty-eight species of butterfly have been recorded here. Red squirrels play in the trees, fire salamanders emerge at dusk, golden orioles call from the canopy and short-toed eagles patrol the thermals overhead. This is not a managed nature experience — it is the real thing, and it will reset your idea of what the natural world is supposed to look like. We work every day to make the site richer. We dig new ponds, manage our meadows with horses, donkeys and a mule, and take a rewilding approach to everything — even the garden. Nik offers free guided nature walks for all guests. Just ask.

very comfortable house with friendly en helpful hosts. the kitchen equipment need some attention. the bedroom is good and the shower and bathroom are tidy and looks new. There is a possibility to order some food which was very tasteful!
Very quiet and peaceful place with a lot of butterflies and birds! Nice hiking trails.

Het huisje blijft door de dikke muren heerlijk koel op hete dagen, de keuken is goed uitgerust, een heerlijk bed en prima badkamer. Top!
Een fantastische plek! Het huisje ligt omgeven door het groen, dat zelfs na een warme zomer groen blijft. Heerlijk. De paarden en ezels hebben prachtige velden, waar je ook als gast gewoon kunt lopen en er zijn veel wandelpaden rondom.
We hebben enorm genoten van de Stilte, de vele vlinders, van de sterrenhemel met goed zichtbare melkweg en van het vriendelijke contact met de eigenaren.
