Cerisier is a newly decorated, characterful gîte for two, tucked into the edge of the gardens and grounds of an 8-hectare rewilded nature reserve in the heart of the Limousin countryside. Upstairs, the double bedroom sits beneath exposed oak beams with a skylight overhead, a hand-painted antique wardrobe and a charming Louis XV sofa — romantic and full of personality. Downstairs, two bold patchwork armchairs face the French doors — throw them open and your private garden and the nature reserve beyond become part of the room. The fully equipped kitchenette has everything for lazy breakfasts and candlelit suppers. Outside, your private terrace with garden furniture and exclusive BBQ sits right on the edge of the grounds. The birdwatching and wildlife here is extraordinary — bring your binoculars. Free WiFi, bed linen and towels included. Dogs welcome.
Nature and surroundings
Eight hectares of rewilded land in the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin surround the gîtes — wildflower meadows with mown paths winding through them, ancient woodland, and new ponds already alive with pool frogs, agile frogs and great diving beetles. The River Bandiat, one of only eight rivers in France to host the freshwater pearl mussel, flows through the heart of the site. Sixty-eight species of butterfly have been recorded here. Red squirrels play in the trees, fire salamanders emerge at dusk, golden orioles call from the canopy and short-toed eagles patrol the thermals overhead. This is not a managed nature experience — it is the real thing, and it will reset your idea of what the natural world is supposed to look like. We work every day to make the site richer. We dig new ponds, manage our meadows with horses, donkeys and a mule, and take a rewilding approach to everything — even the garden. Nik offers free guided nature walks for all guests. Just ask.

Zeer leuk huisje, netjes in orde. Aangename ontvangst.
Heel mooie omgeving. Heel rustig, midden in de bossen met oneindige veel wandelpaden. Ook heel leuk met de fiets (gelukkig electrisch).
