This brand-new nature house (June 2020) is located in a small wooded park off a dirt road, just 1.5 km from the village of Ruurlo. The lodge is charming, warm, and decorated in a rustic style, exuding the intimate atmosphere of a truly cozy forest cottage. From the French doors, you can relax on the covered porch, where you can enjoy the outdoors until late at night. In the living room, you can see all the way up to the roof ridge—it feels wonderfully spacious! The rustic kitchen is equipped with an oven/microwave and a dishwasher. The lodge features two bedrooms on the ground floor and a cozy loft bedroom on the first floor, all furnished with very comfortable box-spring beds. This nature house is located in the centuries-old landscape of the Achterhoek, in the far east of Gelderland, and offers a different view around every bend. Forests, heathlands, and small meadows nestled between hedgerows alternate one after another. In the spring, you can hear the raucous chorus of tree frogs at the frog pools. If you sit by the edge of a stream, you might catch a glimpse of a swift blue flash as it flies by: the kingfisher. The Achterhoek is a paradise for relaxation, with its winding streams, estates, castles, farms, and ancient trees. But the Achterhoek is also perfect for outdoor activities. You can hike along sandy or church paths, feel like a cyclist in paradise, go rollerblading, horseback riding, and more. For children, there are so many fun things to do in both good and bad weather, such as the Klimbos, the Kabouterpad, a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, or wandering through Europe’s largest beech hedge maze.
