Irene and her family were the most welcoming hosts we could have wished for. Everything you need for your stay, you will find in the house and Irene and her parents are happy to help with any questions. A car is a good idea though (we wanted to go without one first, but a car is handy, to be honest, because of shopping for groceries or to get into Cortona). The place was spotless clean when we arrived and Irenes family prepared a little welcome snack for us, that was delicious. The beds are super comfortable and the blankets thick and comfy enough for the fall, when it might be a little bit cooler inside the house. Thank you three so much, we really enjoyed it! All the best, we'll be back soon!
The house is surrounded by breathtaking nature and has an amazing view downhill. The terrace is faced west, so you can watch the sunset in the valley every evening and it sets the house and the garden into a magical, golden light.. The garden is full of beautiful flowers and herbs. In the close area, there is an old roman stone street and different, beautiful scenic routes for hiking and taking long walks. Running (jogging) up and down hill is also possible (I know, because I tried). When you arrive on top of the mountain, you can get a great view on lake Trasimeno. The two houses the family owns are secluded in the back of a small street (you won't at all notice you have neighbors, the houses are set apart comfortably), and the city of Cortona is just 10 minutes away by car, 45 minutes by foot. Cortona is a ravishingly beautiful city with a pictaresque old town to walk around, have dinner and coffee or visit one of the many churches in. We booked this holiday to have a little peace away from the crowds and were not disappointed! Have not slept this well in ages, because it is very silent up there.
