the oak apartment in my house le quinquerlet has two private roof terraces: one between the living area (left) and bedroom (right) and a sun terrace, up the stairs over the jetty, on the roof of the living area. from there you look into the crown of the 300-year-old oak tree or through the pine trees to the north at the puy marquis winery. the oak apartment has the advantage that it offers even more privacy than my other apartments. once you've trudged up the outside stairs, you really are in your kingdom. i make dinner for all my guests on tuesdays or more often if requested. there is also a former pool that has been transformed into a frog pond and a wash house, the buanderie, where you can use one of the washing machines by arrangement. in the gallery room you can enjoy art and read. at night you can look up into the firmament and listen to the squeaking of the dormouse, dozens of which populate the old oak tree. we speak three languages fluently: german, english and french
Nature and surroundings
ocher cliffs, vineyards, luberon natural park, picturesque villages and towns, the château des marquis de sade in lacoste, the abbaye de senanque, the trou d'eau of gargas, weekly markets, flea markets, antique markets... of course lavender fields everywhere, olive groves and on the plateau of the montagne de vaucluse also juniper landscape similar to the swabian alb. aix en provence or avignon are an hour's drive away, while it takes a little longer in marseille or in the camargue. you can cycle here, e.g. to mont ventoux and back (140km), climbing in buoux or on the pont julien between apt and bonnieux. if you like water and antiques, go to isle sur la sorgue and if you like medieval town centres, visit carpentras.
