Nature house in Monfero

A traditional Galician nature house, which has been adapted to the different realities of our family for generations. It was in 2001, when we rehabilitated this set of great heritage value to open it to the world. Adapting our house to the new times, trying to keep the essence of what a village house is, was for us a challenge that we see achieved: the oven is still baking bread, the water is still running in the old washhouse and people are still living in a village that we want to live.

The Val de Xestoso is one of the livestock valleys of the municipality of Monfero. Located in the mountain area of the Fragas do Eume Natural Park, in this valley we find the most authentic landscapes of rural Galicia. Large meadows surrounded by hedges, lush forests and numerous streams, make our parish a beautiful place to enjoy nature. Surrounded by the Serra da Loba, natural border of the provinces of A Coruña and Lugo, from where you can contemplate wide views of the territory and Pena Fesa, the highest point of the municipality with 712 meters above sea level.The main artery of the Xestoso Valley is the Frai Bermuz river, the main tributary of the Eume, whose banks are home to some of the most lush and virgin forests. In our Valley, with a lively primary sector, you can see the traditional work and taste the exquisite products of the area where the king par excellence is the native turnip greens.
