Behind our farmhouse lies our nature house: a 12-by-3.5-meter chalet, a place to retreat, gaze into the distance, and unwind. The chalet features a cozy living area, an open kitchen, a separate bedroom, and a separate bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink. It accommodates two adults and is furnished to help you relax and enjoy your stay. In the kitchen, you’ll find a refrigerator with freezer drawers, a dishwasher, an oven, and a gas stove with a wok burner. You can park your car nearby. The cottage has a sunny (decked) terrace facing southwest. Inside, you can enjoy the wood stove—in addition to the “regular” heating via infrared panels. You have access to our hayloft for sports and games, and we have bicycles available to borrow. Our farmhouse also features a sauna (Note: unavailable starting June 10, 2025).
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located at the end of the road. It gets really quiet here. Past our farmhouse, you’ll pass the orchard, and the house is located just beyond it, offering an unobstructed view of the meadows. The cows and sheep are the permanent residents there, but hares and roe deer also roam the countryside, and a variety of birds fly overhead. On the horizon, you can see the village of Lollum with its two distinctive church towers. The usual supermarkets are just 5 km away. Friesland is also known for its many lakes, charming little harbors, and beautiful nature reserves. The towns and picturesque little villages always have plenty of shops, restaurants, and outdoor cafes. Just strolling around our own property is a little adventure in itself. Hiking trails have been marked out through various meadows with informational maps, and cycling here is a delight. And one thing that really stands out in our area is that you’ll hardly run into anyone, so there’s plenty of time and space for yourself and/or each other!
