Anyone who longs for silence, open space, and a sky full of stars will feel right at home here. What was once an old barn has been lovingly converted into a charming vacation home. Inside, it’s simple and cozy. Outside, time seems to stand still. From nearly every window, you look out over rolling meadows where chickens scratch around and a horse and a donkey come curiously up to the fence. During the day, you mainly hear birds and the wind. As soon as evening falls, it gets truly dark. Thousands of stars appear in the sky, and in the distance, owls call out to one another. In every season, this is a place to slow down and fully recharge. Children have plenty of space in the fenced-in yard with a sandbox, swing, and slide. Cats roam freely in the yard. Wi-Fi and Chromecast (Netflix, NLZIET, etc.) are available. Downstairs, there is a double fold-out bed (140×190 cm) and a single fold-out bed/chair (70×185 cm). On the open loft, there are two single beds. Femke offers ceramics workshops for children and adults.

Nature and Surroundings At the end of a hamlet with just fifteen houses, nature literally begins right at your doorstep. Walk or bike along quiet country roads past forests, meadows, and small villages. Along the way, you might spot hares, roe deer, pheasants, birds of prey, badgers, and even wild boars. Free hiking trails are waiting for you. In just over half an hour, you’ll reach the impressive Opal Coast, where sandy beaches, chalk cliffs, pebble beaches, and the vast Bay of the Somme alternate. Stroll through Le Crotoy or Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, spot seals at Le Hourdel, or enjoy thousands of birds in the Marquenterre nature reserve. Auxi-le-Château is just 5 km away, with shops, outdoor cafés, and all the amenities you need. In the house, you’ll also find a comprehensive folder full of tips for markets, flea markets, restaurants, and unique day trips. But you might just discover that the best outing is simply this: sitting back, listening to the silence, and watching the stars appear one by one.
