This unique landscape of lakes, reed beds and swamp forests is a paradise for nature lovers. From the houseboat you step directly into nature, perfect for a walk, bike ride or boat trip. De Alde Feanen is a popular place for bird lovers, with more than 100 different bird species, including the impressive bald eagle. Otters and deer are also regularly seen here. Rent a canoe or whisper boat and discover the area from the water, or follow one of the many hiking and cycling routes that take you along the most beautiful spots. Nearby you will find the cozy village of Earnewâld, where you can go for a snack and a drink, a visit to the Skûtsjemuseum or the Visitor Center of the National Park. Cities such as Leeuwarden and Drachten can also be reached within half an hour.
