This nature house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac that connects to several hiking and biking trails through the woods and fields. The 150-year-old pig barn has been architecturally converted into a modern and comfortable home. The interior is best described as Scandinavian design characterized by open, light and bright spaces. From the large windows and French doors in the living room you look out over the meadows and there is access to a terrace with shade cloth. The living room has a corner sofa and dining area. There is a TV, Sonos system (radio, podcast and music via your own smartphone) and a good Wifi connection. The kitchen includes a Nespresso machine, kettle, microwave, convection oven, washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs are 2 very spacious bedrooms. The beds are lovely box springs with cotton sheets and extra pillows. There is ample closet space. Bed linen, kitchen linen and (bath) towels are provided.

Nature and surroundings

Bergharen is located in the heart of the land of Maas and Waal. The area is characterized on the one hand by the rivers with its dikes, floodplains and water sports areas such as recreation area De Gouden Ham and the Green Hills. On the other hand, there are the forests and fens and the landscape between the rivers where you can enjoy walking and cycling past beautiful farms, through the church villages, to, for example, the Gardens of Appeltern, the bell mill in Hernen or Bergharen, the medieval castle of Hernen or the visitor center Land van de Heerlijkheden in Leur. In the visitor center you can find out all about special walking and cycling routes, places of interest, souvenirs and regional products. The villages of Wijchen and Druten are just a stone's throw away. Here you will find several restaurants, cafes, a cinema, theaters, a swimming pool and a golf course. In addition, the old Maas towns of Grave, Ravenstein and Batenburg are definitely worth a visit. Nijmegen (19km), Den Bosch (39km) and Arnhem (32km).

Everything was tip top in the cottage. All the comforts were provided and the owner was available for questions and very friendly. The cottage was super clean and modern. We have nothing to complain about, highly recommended!

When we entered, it was warm and smelled nice. All the furniture and accessories are beautiful, matching and practical. It looks like an ikea showroom (but meant very positively, because we love Ikea) The bedrooms, with good box-spring beds are large and dark well. The kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of for extensive cooking and eating. The sofa lacks a brighter reading lamp and it was not always pleasant that the toilet door opens into the kitchen, but those are details. The pot of chatter cards and the game closet made for fine times. There is much to do in the area. We visited the outdoor museum, Burgers zoo, the airborne museum and the city of Nijmegen. We did not use them, but there were 4 bikes in the barn that you were free to use.

The cottage is free on a cul-de-sac and has a view of meadows and trees. There is a hiking trail that runs past the cottage. The last day it started to snow and our view was even more idyllic. We were also there on New Year's Eve and then the peace was far from it. We did not expect that there would be such fanatical popping there.
