Nature house in Saint-Moreil

This nature house is a delightful spot tucked away in the heart of the Limousin. Our hamlet consists of a watermill, a farmhouse, and a baker’s cottage. The cottage has been completely renovated into a cozy two-person gîte, equipped with all modern conveniences while respecting the original style. Underfloor heating is concealed beneath antique French tiles. A modern wood stove now adorns the old fireplace where the bread oven once stood. Windows and doors have been replaced with double-pane glass while preserving the centuries-old oak frames. On the ground floor, there is a comfortable sitting area by the wood stove, an open kitchen with modern built-in appliances, a dining area, and a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and spacious walk-in shower. The mezzanine, featuring a balustrade, is furnished with a bed (160x200) and a chest of drawers. The bedroom overlooks the living room below and, thanks to large French windows, also offers a view of the garden. The baker’s cottage stands completely detached and has a spacious private garden with a patio and patio furniture.

This nature house is situated in a very peaceful location, at the end of a paved road, 5 km outside the village of Saint-Moreil. It borders a lake and a stream in a small valley surrounded by hills, woods, and meadows. The beautiful surroundings are ideal for hiking and biking. There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails starting right from the cottage. We have 3 mountain bikes available free of charge. For road cyclists, there are also many quiet, paved roads in the immediate vicinity. You can swim in the lake right outside the cottage or in the nearby Lac Sainte-Hélène reservoir, which has a beach. In Saint-Moreil, there’s a small market on Thursday evenings, and a small pub is open Thursday through Saturday evenings. For other amenities, you can visit one of the nearby medieval towns. This nature house is also a great base for all kinds of excursions in the region, such as the charming city of Limoges, the impressive museum village of Oradour-sur-Glane, and Lac de Vassivière, which offers various water sports activities.
