Nature and surroundings

Sandfirden is located between Oudega (W) and Gaastmeer at the Oudegaaster Brekken and because of the relative altitude, the Dutch Reformed Church is a landmark. In spite of increasing tourism around the Frisian lakes area, the neighboring lakes Het Hop and De Ringwiel are still an oasis of peace and quiet. Sandfirden has a jetty and can be reached through the passageway of the Ategracht. The Dutch Reformed Church is characteristic. A pen drawing from 1722 shows this little church. Apart from the eight services during the Summer season as well as several organ concerts, a good many weddings take place in this church.
