All roads lead to Rome and that's a good thing. But if you want to unwind in the middle of nature, away from the crowds of tourists, turn off a little earlier and head for the picturesque and magical triangle of the old Etruscan towns of Sorano, Sovana and Pitigliano. Here you will stay in a 100-year-old stone farmhouse with a large veranda on a three-hectare plot of land. As it should be, on a hillside with sweeping views over olive trees and vineyards, oak trees and yellow flowering broom. There is not another house in sight and the nearest village is about a kilometer away. A delight for those who like it when their neighbor can't see into the window or hammock.

The nearest village is Elmo, where there is a bar and a small alimentari. For a cappuccino you can drive to Sorano, Sovana or Pitigliano, between 4 and 9 kilometers away and each breathtaking in its own way, both in terms of location and beauty. You can swim at Lago di Bolsena (30 minutes' drive) or by the sea (one hour). Alternative for spring and fall: the famous sulphur springs in Saturnia!
