Nature house in Onnen

Escape to the countryside! You can, just 10 km south of the city of Groningen, in the northern part of Drentsche Aa National Park. The best of both worlds! The little farmhouse, with its garden, terrace, and private driveway, is entirely for your private use. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds measuring 1.80 x 2.10 (upstairs) and 1.80 x 2.00 (or two 0.90 x 2.00 beds, downstairs) and are equipped with high-quality bath and bed linens. The bathroom, featuring a double sink, shower, and bathtub, has a separate toilet. In the spacious, underfloor-heated living/dining room with large windows, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the beautiful Onner Es. Read or play games by the crackling fire at the large dining table; a smart TV and Wi-Fi are available. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances and dishes. The partially fenced garden features a sheltered patio with patio furniture, cushions, and a parasol for sitting in the sun or shade. We live with our two dogs and cats in the separate cottage next door and behind the main house.

Its location on a small dead-end road near the Appèlbergen nature reserve—which offers beautiful hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails—is truly unique. It’s situated right on the Pieterpad and Hondsrugpad trails. The farmhouse was built at the beginning of the last century and is surrounded by over 5 ha of private nature land open to the public (entrance between #3 and #5). Since the beginning of this century, this area has been designated under the Nature Conservation Act, and the trees, shrubs, ponds, hedges, and ditches are managed sustainably. The estate forms an ecological corridor between nearby nature reserves and is situated on a former peat bog, the Langakkerveen. On the east side, it is flanked by the historic cart track—or “Medieval highway”—the Hoge Hereweg in Glimmen, part of the UNESCO Global Geopark de Hondsrug. At the end of the Dalweg, you can only continue on foot via the Tranendal (shell path) across the Onner Es or through the Appèlbergen nature reserve. The trail is 250 meters away, and Eelde Airport is about 4 km away, so in addition to birds, you can also spot airplanes.
