This naturehouse, originally the old bakehouse, is a two storey stone cottage dating from 1743. It still has the original, terracotta pizza oven in the sitting room. This nature house has a pretty sitting room with antique furniture and a small, fully equipped kitchen on the upper floor. Downstairs you’ll find a double bedroom with a metal, four poster bed from Designer’s Guild, as well as a shower room. There is a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board. The bedroom has double doors onto the private, outside terrace, which will allow you to enjoy extensive views over the valley from your bed! The terrace has deckchairs, a table and chairs for dining and a small barbeque. The house is shaded by a large, productive fig tree.

In the Province of Lucca, Borgo della Madonnina is close to Celle dei Puccini, one time home of the Puccini family, and the beautiful hill village of Pescaglia, perched at the top of a steep hillside. Bordered by the forested Appenines to the east and the Apuan Alps to the west, the Garfagnana area is one of alpine meadows, lush hills, rivers and gorges, making it ideal for walking and hiking. Orrido di Botri and the Lima river valley are nearby and are perfect for wild water swimming and for fun in rock pools. For walks near the cottage, an ancient mule track crosses our land and the stone steps will take you to Celle dei Puccini and above to Gello and Foci di Gello. From these you can join other marked trails high above our Val Pedogna. This is undoubtedly a walker's hiker's and bird watcher's paradise. A family of three deer live on our land and we are often visited by wild boar in the dead of night!
