Nature house in Ter Apel

The nature house is located on the grounds of a peat-colonial farm, set on a 5,000-square-meter property that includes a mini-campground, an information/rest area, and a log cabin. This nature house is a cozy and comfortably furnished trailer that sleeps up to two people. Inside, there is a made-up double bed and a cozy sitting area. The compact kitchen is fully equipped and, in addition to a gas stove and refrigerator, also includes a coffee maker and an electric kettle. Towels are provided and waiting for you in the closet. Outside, under the canopy, there’s a seating area where you can spend many hours enjoying the beautiful songs of the many birds. You’ll have access to the campground’s restroom facilities. The grounds are a green oasis surrounded by fields and tranquility. Free Wi-Fi is available, and you can charge your electric bikes in the bike shed; for a fee, you can use a washing machine and dryer.

There are various fishing spots near the nature house, including the De Slegge trout and sturgeon pond. There are also several swimming spots, such as the Moekes Gat outdoor pool, the Selingerbeetse sand quarry, and Schloss Dankern, just across the border in Germany. Ter Apel is within walking distance of Germany and the province of Drenthe. The beautiful forests of Ter Apel, Sellingen, and the Bargerveen nature reserve offer a lovely and varied landscape for cycling and hiking. In addition to the stunning natural scenery, there’s also plenty to do for all ages in terms of culture: the Ter Apel Monastery Museum, the Bourtange Fortress, Wonderwereld (Ter Apel), Kabouterland (Exloo), Wildlands (Emmen), Plopsaland (Coevorden), Joytime Outdoor Climbing Park (Grolloo), shopping, nightlife, and more. In short, this area is a great base from which to explore Groningen, Drenthe, and Germany.
