Nature house in Ter Apel

The nature house is a Peat Colony-era farmhouse situated on a 5,000-square-meter property that includes a mini-campground, an information/rest area, a log cabin, and a rental trailer. The farmhouse features two comfortable apartments. The grounds are a green oasis surrounded by fields and silence, broken only by the sound of birdsong. The “De Hen” apartment has its own entrance and a lockable patio with furniture. From the entryway, you can access the cozy living room with a fully equipped kitchen. Adjacent to the same hallway are the bedroom with two single beds—which can also be pushed together—and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower and toilet. Free Wi-Fi is available, and you can charge your electric bikes in the bike shed; for a fee, you can use a washer and dryer.

There are various fishing spots near the nature house, including the De Slegge trout and sturgeon pond. There are also several swimming spots, such as the Moekes Gat outdoor pool, the Selingerbeetse sand quarry, and Schloss Dankern, just across the border in Germany. Ter Apel is within walking distance of Germany and the province of Drenthe. The beautiful forests of Ter Apel, Sellingen, and the Bargerveen nature reserve offer a lovely and varied landscape for cycling and hiking. In addition to the stunning natural scenery, there’s also plenty to do for all ages when it comes to culture: the Ter Apel Monastery Museum, the Bourtange Fortress, Wonderwereld (Ter Apel), Kabouterland (Exloo), Wildlands (Emmen), Plopsaland (Coevorden), Joytime Outdoor Climbing Park (Grolloo), shopping, nightlife, and more. In short, this area is a great base from which to explore Groningen, Drenthe, and Germany.
