Nature house in Genova

So it was a stay we’ll never forget. The owners are very engaged and incredibly attentive. If you need anything, they’ll help you right away. We definitely built a good rapport with them, despite our limited Italian (they speak English). Since you have to park the car about a kilometer from the house, a handcart (for groceries and such) is definitely recommended. We went on many outings in the area (Genoa, Portofino, the coast, and the promenade). It’s a beautiful coastal region that’s easy and quick to reach by train. Genoa pleasantly surprised us, both with its beauty and its raw charm. Along the coast, you’ll find plenty of great spots for swimming that are known only to the locals. The owners of the cottage can also give you lots of tips.

Het was dus een verblijf dat we nooit meer zullen vergeten. De eigenaars zijn erg betrokken en superattent. Als je iets nodig hebt, zullen ze je onmiddellijk helpen. Wij hebben er in ieder geval een goede band mee opgebouwd ondanks ons gebrekkige Italiaans (zij spreken Engels). Vermits de auto op een goede kilometer van het huis moet geparkeerd worden is een bolderkar (voor de boodschappen en zo) zeker aan te raden. Wij hebben vele uitstapjes gemaakt in de omgeving (Genua, Portofino, de kust en de promenade). Het is een prachtige kuststreek die met de trein makkelijk en snel te bereiken is. Genua heeft ons aangenaam verrast, zowel door haar schoonheid als haar rauwheid. Op de vele plekken langs de kust vind je leuke plekjes om te zwemmen die enkel bij de locals gekend zijn. De eigenaars van het huisje kunnen je ook vele tips geven.

This beautifully situated and authentic cottage provided us with both plenty of coziness and peace and quiet. We had an incredibly fun and unforgettable time there. The surroundings and the cottage exuded an incredible sense of tranquility. We were truly able to unwind there. It’s as if you’re right in the middle of nature. You can splash and jump in the many small pools and bodies of water all over the area (though you’ll have to share them with the local kids during the day).

Dit prachtig gelegen en authentieke huisje bezorgde ons zowel heel veel gezelligheid als rust. We hebben er een ongelooflijk leuke en onvergetelijke tijd gehad. De omgeving en het huisje straalden een ongelooflijke rust uit. We kwamen er echt tot ontspanning. Je zit als het ware in het midden van de natuur. Je kan er overal in de buurt plonzen en springen in de vele poeltjes en waterpartijen (overdag wel te delen met de plaatselijke jeugd).

A little more exterior lights (for example, at the stairs going up) would be nice. The highway bridge, although fairly far away, is visible and you can hear the rush of traffic to some extent. Again, it is important not to expect too much luxury. There is also something to the simplicity. The "secret" and the love of the owners makes up for a lot. Furthermore, the coast is super busy but that is to be expected. There is not much to do inland. We have visited Genoa, but we don't need to visit it a second time. Too busy and not very special. All in all: a special experience.

Iets meer buitenlampjes (bijvoorbeeld bij de trap naar boven) zou fijn zijn.
De snelwegbrug ligt wel redelijk ver weg maar is zichtbaar en je hoort het ruisen van het verkeer enigszins.
Nogmaals, het is belangrijk dat je niet te veel luxe verwacht. De eenvoud heeft ook wel wat. Het 'geheim' en de liefde van de eigenaars maakt veel goed. Je komt er absoluut tot rust.
Verder is de kust superdruk maar dat is te verwachten. In het binnenland is niet heel veel te beleven. We hebben Genua bezocht maar dat hoeft van ons geen 2e keer. Te druk en weinig bijzonder.
Al met al: een bijzondere ervaring.

In general we can say that we had a wonderful 2 weeks (1 week extra booked). We were shocked by the rather intense walk to the cottage (not the distance of 25 minutes but the ascent). Especially with a backpack full of groceries, which you have to do several times in the intense heat. Yet even that gets used to and the place is really great. In the valley with beautiful views and close to cool lakes. The house is spacious but dark, quite old and simple. You have to adjust to that. Sleeping upstairs, via the outside stairs also gets used to. Frederico and Cecilia come to pick up and deliver the things and are very warm, sweet, sympathetic people. They regularly ask if everything is okay and if anything is missing. We were given a fan for the bedroom and dishes for breakfast.

In het algemeen kunnen we zeggen dat we een heerlijke 2 weken hebben gehad. (1 weekje bijgeboekt).
We schrokken even van de vrij heftige wandeling naar het huisje (niet de afstand van 25 minuten maar het stijgen). Vooral met een rugzak vol boodschappen, wat je toch meerdere keren moet doen in de heftige warmte. Toch went ook dat en de plek is echt geweldig. In het dal met mooi zicht en vlak bij de koele meertjes. Er is ook nog een geheim maar daar kunnen we niets over zeggen uiteraard.
Het huisje is ruim maar donker, vrij oud en eenvoudig. Daar moet je je wel op instellen. Boven slapen, via de buitentrap went ook. Bed is goed, kamer is uiteraard wel warm onder het dak.
Frederico en Cecilia komen de spullen halen en brengen en zijn hele warme, lieve, sympathieke mensen. Er wordt regelmatig gevraagd of alles in orde is en of er iets mist. We kregen een ventilator voor de slaapkamer en schaaltjes voor het ontbijt.
