Nature house in Saint Marcory

Our vacation home is located in the Dordogne and features spacious grounds, an outdoor kitchen, and a private pool. The outdoor kitchen is located across from the house, and in the field behind the fig tree is the 8 x 3.5-meter swimming pool with a large, partially covered terrace featuring lounge chairs and an outdoor shower. The house and outbuildings are situated on one and a half hectares of land. The house enjoys a very private location, completely secluded from prying eyes. The main house features an 11 x 6-meter living room, with the kitchen—complete with a 10-person dining table—on one side, and at the other end, the sitting area with a 5-seater corner sofa, a comfortable armchair, and a large open fireplace. On the upper floor: a small office area, the bathroom (shower and two sinks), the toilet, and the master bedroom. Adjacent to the main house on the ground floor are the utility room and two bedrooms, each with its own entrance, bathroom with toilet, and private terrace. The stairs in the utility room lead to the attic, which has 5 (children’s) beds and plenty of toys. The house can accommodate a group of 6 adults and 4 children.

Across from the house is the covered outdoor kitchen, next to which are two barns and a covered carport for two cars. A little further away, somewhat tucked away, is the terrace with a swimming pool. The hilly landscape here is characterized by small-scale farming interspersed with forests. The towns are often centuries old; the nearest one (Monpazier), for example, dates back to the Hundred Years’ War. The village, located five hundred meters away, consists of nothing more than a small church (dating from around the 12th century), a single dilapidated manor farm, and a school building that now serves as a residence. Our house is located on a dirt path that leads to the narrow paved road connecting the village to a departmental road. On this narrow road, cars must both pull halfway onto the shoulder to pass each other. There is no street lighting in our valley; only the moon and stars light up the night here.
