Nature house in Zuurdijk

Enjoy one of the quietest places in the Netherlands, near the Lauwersmeer. At this nature house you get peace, space and fresh air. Relax and enjoy yourself and each other. Need to be outside, let your head blow empty in beautiful surroundings? In Zuurdijk (on the Groningen side of the Lauwersmeer) on a mound is a former workers cottage (1875) with a lovely garden all around and overlooking a pear orchard. Unspoiled farmland and the oldest cultural landscape in the Netherlands. The road winds through the landscape and you can see for miles from the mound. The nature house is fully equipped. In winter you put on the wood stove and in summer you can enjoy the large garden. There are several nice places to sit outside and the trees provide plenty of shade when it gets too hot. Sleeps 2-6 people, 3 bedrooms; 1 on the ground floor and 2 upstairs, accessible by a separate staircase. No pets.

Explore the Groningen countryside by car, on foot or by bicycle. In the nature house there are folders with cycling routes, walking routes, places of interest, restaurants and excursions. Here is a small selection to give you an idea of how varied the vacation can be: rent a boat and go sailing yourself, take a round trip and spot seals, go mudflat hiking, rent a tuktuk, visit the Theefabriek for lunch or high tea, make candles at the candle factory in Eenrum, go pottery with sea clay, go to Schiermonnikoog for a day, visit the city of Groningen, visit the DoeZoo, go swimming at Electra, go climbing or archery at Waddenfun or go to the open-air museum in Warffum (kidsproof). Nearby is Borg Verhildersum, with a cozy market with local products every third Saturday of the month. Furthermore, there is a lot of walking and cycling.
