Cozy old farmhouse (1872) from the Eastern Cantons seven kilometers from the highest point in Belgium in the High Fens Nature Park (4500 hectares). The nature house sleeps up to 33 and is ideal for hiking friends, family reunions, cycling clubs, canoeists and bon vivants. After a long day, enjoy a nice tea or a good glass of wine, cozy warm by the fireplace (provide your own wood!). Stargazing (without stray light) from the warm southern terrace (22 x 8 meters) or around a campfire in the garden, with the beautiful view of the valley of the Warchenne. During the day, breakfast or barbecue together outside on the large terrace or the smaller terraces and play petanque, soccer or hide-and-seek on the large grounds or in the house. In the evening also find entertainment around the kicker, the carom billiards, the shuffleboard, board games, a good book, a DVD or just around a game of cards. Something for everyone, a place for each in one of the livings to enjoy each other's company.
Nature and surroundings
In the surroundings you can plan your own walks. A riding school is at 100 meters, a bicycle junction at 50 meters. There is a Ravel (bike path on old train track) to Malmédy, Stavelot, Troisponts, the waterfalls of Coo or in the other direction to Monschau, a charming medieval half-timbered town in Germany. Swimming and boating can be done on Lake Butgenbach or Robertville. Visiting Reinardstein Castle is four kilometers away. Railbiking in the High Fens on an old train track. Hiking through the Fagnes, following the Warche from Botrange (highest point in Belgium) past Reinardstein castle and Lake Robertville to the Vennhaus (an eight kilometer), following small rivers and long forest walks. Visit the old Recht stone mine: a refuge during the war and a museum of the stone used to make the typical crosses in the region's cemeteries or the floors and windows in old farmhouses. Cross-country skiing, sledding or skiing (Ovifat, Spa, Der Schwarzen Mann in Germany) in winter. Don't cook and have all meals brought by caterer Piront (two kilometers away in Waimes/Weismes). Maaike September 19, 2025 General rating:Our overall experience with this family home was very positive. The location is beautiful and the house has a unique atmosphere because of the many stairs and small rooms. For the children it was a play paradise with numerous places to hide. Although the house and furnishings are somewhat outdated, this was more than made up for by the excellent cleaning and care. We felt welcomed by the friendly reception of the manager and had a nice and relaxing stay with our group.
Nature, peace & environment:We stayed with 20 people in this family house and enjoyed the beautiful location immensely. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the manager (he speaks French and a little German). The house takes some getting used to because of the many stairs and small rooms, but that makes it special and for the children extra fun because of the many hiding places. A big compliment for the hygiene: although the house and the furniture are somewhat dated, everything was neatly clean and cared for. All in all an attractive house in a beautiful place, ideal for a stay with a larger group.
This text is automatically translated. -
bert April 18, 2025 General rating:cozy and authentic but also noisy and lived-in/advisable if you don't move in at full capacity because there are eventually 11 rooms including some very large group rooms that are less pleasant for couples.
Nature, peace & environment:4 stars for the peace, space and nature in the area. Powerful view. Inside cozy, a little worn out but nice not to see a classic vacation home for large groups, here authentic and lived-in. Villa Kakelbont content: find your room and live the building know during the weekend. Kitchen not suitable for large groups so menu adaptation is best: simplicity adorns.

Karin February 28, 2025 General rating:The house is also rundown. Friendly welcome though.
Het huis is ook uitgeleefd. Wel vriendelijk ontvangen.
Nature, peace & environment:The house is much too small for a large group, especially the living space on the ground floor. There are other sitting areas, though. But when you go on a family weekend you still want to sit together.
