Explore The Middle of Nowhere on foot or by bicycle and stay overnight at this guesthouse! An extensive book of trips, cycling routes and walks is available. For example, consider the very famous Lauwersmeerroute, a bicycle tour around the Lauwersmeer of almost 50 kilometers. The start is 1500 meters from the nature house. Lauwersoog is 20 kilometers away and has special walks. The Lauwersmeer area is also an attraction for bird lovers; in all seasons spotters find their entertainment there. There are several bird-watching huts and other beautiful vantage points. The nature house is also an excellent overnight address for a day of mudflat hiking, seal watching in Pieterburen or a day out on Schiermonnikoog. There is also ample information on fun days out in the area. Leeuwarden is 38 kilometers away, Groningen (city) 27 kilometers away.
