Despite the rainy weather, we really enjoyed our stay at Chalet Eekhoorn. The chalet is fully equipped (TV with Chromecast) and is tastefully and neatly decorated. The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped with appliances and a selection of basic cooking ingredients. It was nice that soap, dishwasher tablets, and coffee pods were provided. The garden is also beautifully landscaped, and we spotted squirrels regularly. The information provided after booking was comprehensive and clear.
The surroundings and the park are wonderfully peaceful. Since it’s located on the outskirts of Winterswijk, supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants are easily accessible within a short distance. The Hilgelomeer is also easily accessible and makes for a nice walk.
We also visited my father’s hometown, Ulft, where my grandfather worked as a sandblaster at the DRU factory around 1900. Now it’s a large event venue where we took a look around and enjoyed a delicious lunch.

De omgeving en het park is heerlijk rustig. Omdat het aan de rand van Winterswijk ligt zijn supermarkten, cafes en restaurants op korte afstand prima bereikbaar. Ook het Hilgelomeer is goed bereikbaar en is een leuke wandeling.
Verder hebben we het geboortedorp van mijn vader bezocht, Ulft, waar mijn grootvader rond 1900 werkzaam was als zandstraler in de DRUfabriek. Nu is dat een groot evenementsgebouw waar we hebben rondgekeken en heerlijk hebben geluncht.
