You can also enjoy the substantial and beautiful gardens on either side of the house, the cozy but modern kitchen, the brand new hot-burning wood stove, the tastefully decorated bedrooms with authentic ceilings, free Wi-Fi throughout almost the entire house (and part of the garden) and the flat-screen TV with DVD player (and 400 DVDs of good taste). Near the mill you can enjoy hiking (routes and maps available), canoeing in the Sioul, cooling off in the stream next to the house, horseback riding, swimming in several lakes, making trips to Clermont-Ferrand (an hour's drive), visiting the (long time) highest railroad bridge in Europe, and going to the market in St Gervais on Monday mornings. Auvergne is a region barely discovered by tourism, characterized by glowing hills and meadows with hedges in between. The white Charolais cows often line the land so beautifully that it looks as if a choreographer had been involved.
