Nature house in Louppy

Vacation for two! Stop - you've already passed it! The former woodshed lies inconspicuously between an old wall and a demolished fermette. Don't be discouraged, because the surprise is inside the nature cottage! This gîte (the French word for vacation home) is intimate and the garden borders (how could it be otherwise) the Loison! The cottage is characterized by the warmth of the natural materials used: local oak from the Louppy forest and French natural stone. Earth tones, wooden beams, walls of moellons (the local limestone), the floor of bluestone, an imposing fireplace and the bluestone sink with large basin. The cottage exudes warmth and comfort. Off-season heating is provided by the wood-burning stove. A special heat that warms the whole house and fits the customs of the locals. In the Meuse, the wood stove is still the most common heating method. Finally, the law regulates the "right to wood"! Downstairs is a living space with alcove and upstairs the bathroom and bedroom. Outside a private terrace and 100 m² garden adjacent to the Loison. Crib and high chair on request. And the dog can come along!

The landlords live and work in an area unknown to many. With a population density of about eight inhabitants per km², we can really speak of a nature reserve here. There is no industry around the nature house, only agriculture and forestry. The forest behind the cottage extends to the next village, about 15 kilometers without habitation or human activity; it can be discovered via gravel paths, wildlife is almost certainly encountered. There are staff maps available and marked routes through the forest and surrounding meadows. For wildlife spotters it is a paradise. At 20 kilometers we find the "floodplains" of the Meuse and the lakes created by the sand quarries. Numerous birds can be spotted there. In autumn and spring you can see the migration of thousands of cranes, which also winter here. In spring you can see the stork nesting. A happy small part of the forest is planted, but most of it is oak, beech, hornbeam and wild fruit trees, therefore the forest has a more natural look.
