Nature house in Durbuy

The cottage is fine. As previously described, the basics are there: hot water, it is generally clean (found some chip crumbs on the floor by the couch), spacious enough for us as two people and a large and small dog. Garden is lovely and well-fenced, but the only downside is that the terrace is also sloped, so the table and chairs are crooked and you lean forward, so to speak. There is also no WiFi, you have to pay for the electricity yourself and the deposit will be refunded within two weeks, they said at check-out. I think those are all major downsides, as is the fact that you are expected to clean things yourself (which is partly understandable), but there are zero cleaning supplies except for a vacuum cleaner. The way all the rules and any additional (cleaning) costs were communicated to me on paper, such as about a decibel meter (our one dog is watchful and still sometimes strikes), made me feel not very welcome. But had a great vacation!

Het huisje is prima. Zoals eerder beschreven is de basis er: warm water, het is over het algemeen schoon (vonden wat chipskruimels op de grond bij de bank), ruim genoeg voor ons als twee personen en een grote en kleine hond. Tuin is heerlijk en goed omheind, maar het enige nadeel is dat het terras ook schuin loopt, waardoor de tafel en stoelen scheef staan en je als het ware naar voren helt. Er is ook geen WiFi, je moet zelf betalen voor de elektriciteit en de borg wordt binnen twee weken teruggestort, zeiden ze bij het uitchecken. Dat vind ik allemaal grote minpunten, net als dat er verwacht wordt dat je zelf dingen schoonmaakt (wat deels begrijpelijk is), maar er zijn nul schoonmaakbenodigdheden op een stofzuiger na. Ik voelde me door de manier waarop alle regels en eventuele bijkomende (schoonmaak)kosten op papier werden gecommuniceerd, zoals over een decibelmeter (onze ene hond is waaks en slaat nog wel eens aan), niet heel welkom. Maar een fijne vakantie gehad!

What a beautiful location in the middle of nature and a 10-minute walk from downtown! Plenty of places to go out to for a nice walk with the dogs, and also plenty of space around the cottage. The cottage is at the end of a cul-de-sac driveway so super quiet. We had no neighbors at the time of stay, so extra quiet! Great nature of course!

Wat een prachtige ligging midden in de natuur en op 10 minuten lopen van het centrum af! Genoeg plekken om naar uit te wijken voor een fijne wandeling met de honden, en ook genoeg ruimte rondom het huisje. Het huisje ligt aan het einde van een doodlopende oprit dus super rustig. Wij hadden geen buren op het moment van verblijf, dus extra rustig! Geweldige natuur natuurlijk!

Provided additional maintenance outside and inside, the cottage can become a bit more attractive. This cottage is rather for two or three people. Beautiful surroundings, ideal for those who want to explore Durbuy and its surroundings on foot, within walking distance of the center and the Ourthe.

Mits extra onderhoud buiten en binnen kan het huisje nog wat aantrekkelijker worden. Dit huisje is eerder voor twee of drie personen. Mooie omgeving, ideaal voor wie Durbuy en omgeving te voet wil verkennen, op wandelafstand van het centrum en de Ourthe.

Quiet, located at the end of a dead end cobblestone road. The cottage is all the more pleasant in nice weather as we had, birds whistling around you and south facing terrace with a beautiful view. At night it can feel chilly inside though so bring an extra blanket if you want to leave the electric heater off. Difficult to fit a crib because of the layout. You have to go through a room to reach the bathroom, and the sink is in the same room which is fairly impractical. The room with double bed is OK, the closet was a bit big. All the household appliances worked and there was hot water. Ideal if you are satisfied with basic comforts. The pictures on the website are not current, there is a new(er) comfy couch and there is no picture of the front of the cottage.

Rustig, gelegen op het einde van een doodlopende keiweg. Het huisje is des te aangenamer bij mooi weer zoals wij hebben gehad, fluitende vogels om je heen en zuidelijk gericht terras met een prachtig uitzicht. 's avonds kan het binnen wel kil aanvoelen dus neem een extra deken mee als je de elektrische verwarming uit wil laten. Moeilijk om een babybedje te plaatsen wegens de indeling. Je moet een kamer door om de badkamer te bereiken, en de wastafel staat in diezelfde kamer wat redelijk onpraktisch is. De kamer met dubbel bed is OK, de kast viel wat groot uit. Alle huishoudelijke apparaten werkten en er was warm water. Ideaal als je tevreden bent met basiscomfort. De foto's op de website zijn niet actueel, er staat een nieuwe(re) comfortabele zetel en er staat geen foto van de voorzijde van het huisje.

It was fairly quiet and the cottage was clean. But something was missing to step into the cottage with a clean foot and also the heating is all electric, which gives it an extra cost to heat around this time of year. Also the stairs to the garden are grated. Which is not nice for the little dogs. Also the shower was fairly cramped and also the furnishing was not really provided for 4 adults.

Het was redelijk rustig en het huisje was netjes. Maar er ontbrak wel iets om met een propere voet in het huisje te stappen en ook de verwarming is volledig elektrisch, wat het rond deze periode van het jaar een extra kost geeft om te verwarmen. Ook de trap naar de tuin toe is met grating. Hetgeen voor de hondjes niet fijn is. Ook de douche was redelijk benepen en ook de inrichting was niet echt voorzien voor 4 volwassenen.
