The surroundings, peace and quiet, garden, and woods are GREAT.
The cottage is also wonderful. (It’s full of furniture.) You feel like you’ve stepped back into the 1950s. There’s no luxury to speak of. We actually like that.
Don’t expect good beds (they’re at least 50 years old).
However, the owner is very much in your face. She calls before arrival to ask when you’ll arrive—and then spends two hours upon arrival explaining how everything works and, above all, telling you exactly how to do things.
Upon departure, she makes arrangements that she then forgets, and she calls me later to bring them up again.
I’ve been staying in vacation homes for 15 years (at least 5 locations per year).

Bij vertrek worden afspraken gemaakt die zij vergeet en waar ze me later weer over belt.
Ik logeer al 15 jaar (minstens 5 adressen per jaar) in vakantiehuisjes.
Zoveel contact met de verhuurster heb ik nog niet meegemaakt.
Dit geeft een negatieve stempel. Advies aan verhuurder: wat mij betreft contactloze sleuteloverdacht doen en de schoonmaakkosten van tevoren afrekenen. Veel prettiger. Het gedoe achteraf was een domper op onze vakantie.Awesome
