Nature house in Garnwerd

This farmhouse is located in the heart of the Reitdiep Valley’s meadow bird sanctuary. The silence here is truly unique! The only sounds you hear are the wind and the birds. The view is expansive; you can see the weather coming from afar. The apartment is fully equipped; you can cook in the nature house (stove and combination oven), and you have your own entrance and a terrace with a garden. The entire apartment features underfloor heating, a private bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. Garnwerd is a five-minute walk away. This charming, historic village has two excellent restaurants with terraces where you can relax and enjoy a meal. From the apartment, you can see Café Hammingh—one of the oldest cafés in the Hogeland region!

Nature here is still breathtaking. During the breeding season, the fields—with their tall grass—are full of nesting birds, from black-tailed godwits to goldfinches. Sit down on a bench and you won’t know where to look or listen! On the Herenkant side of the farm, you can sit back and enjoy the evening sun. The sunsets are usually spectacular! The Reitdiep Valley is ideal for walking or biking. Head toward Aduarderzijl and take the ferry to Schaphalsterzijl. Enjoy the beautiful town of Winsum with its historic center and stately homes. Then walk or bike on to the little church in Klein Wetsinge for a good glass of wine or coffee with homemade pastries—and don’t forget to walk up to the top and enjoy the view! From Wetsinge, you can take the back roads back to the farm—a day doesn’t get any better than this!
