We loved the house and the location of the house in Marmelete

We had one week of good weather, and then enjoyed the pool and sun loungers, but also a week with bad weather so we had to sit inside more and then the house is perhaps a bit dark. If we would have had 2 weeks of good weather and much outside around the house could stay, it would have been a 9

Wij hebben één week mooi weer gehad, en toen heerlijk ook genoten van het zwembad en ligstoelen, maar ook een week met slechter weer waardoor we meer binnen moesten zitten en dan is het huis misschien wat donker. Als we 2 weken mooi weer zouden hebben gehad en veel buiten rondom het huis konden verblijven, dan was het wel een 9 geworden

We had a wonderful time in the beautiful house among the fragrant eucalyptus trees. I found it a unique experience to be so in the middle of nowhere yet also near authentic villages and towns. The house is comfortable, lovely beds, and has a fine wood stove. From the house we made many well-marked walks, along the beautiful rugged coast and also in the hilly interior around Monchique, a nice town nearby and also near Marmelete, the village to which the house belongs. The communication with Lotte, the owner, was very good. If there was any ambiguity or a small problem she immediately came into action and tried to solve it for us.The only small drawback is the bumpy dirt road you have to take the last 2 or 3 km to get to the house. But that also added to the feeling of being completely in nature.

We hebben het heerlijk gehad in het mooie huis tussen de heerlijk ruikende eucalyptusbomen. Ik vond het een unieke ervaring om zo in de middel of nowhere te zijn maar toch ook in de buurt van authentieke dorpjes en stadjes. Het huis is comfortabel, heerlijke bedden, en heeft een fijne houtkachel. Vanuit het huis hebben we veel goed gemarkeerde wandelingen gemaakt, langs de prachtige ruige kust en ook in het heuvelachtige binnenland rondom Monchique, een leuk stadje in de buurt en ook bij Marmelete, het dorp waar het huis bij hoort.
De communicatie met Lotte, de eigenaar, verliep heel goed. Als er onduidelijkheid was of een klein probleem dan kwam ze direct in actie en probeerde het voor ons op te lossen.
Het enige kleine nadeel is de hobbelige zandweg die je de laatse 2 a 3 km moet nemen om bij het huis te komen. Maar dat droeg ook bij aan het gevoel van lekker helemaal in de natuur.

We experienced unforgettably cozy and atmospheric vacation days here. One small tip maybe, which I myself would have been very happy with, the water comes directly from the river and is therefore not clear, which discolors white/light clothes in the washing machine. Also the wifi is not quite stable, but after all it is vacation and that might just make it more authentic.

Wij hebben hier onvergetelijk gezellige en sfeervolle vakantiedagen beleefd. Een kleine tip misschien, waar ik zelf erg blij mee geweest zou zijn, het water komt rechtstreeks uit de rivier en is daardoor niet helder, waardoor witte/lichte kleding in de wasmachine verkleuren. Ook de wifi is niet helemaal stabiel, maar het is tenslotte vakantie en dat maakt het misschien juist nog authentieker.

What a paradise! The cottage is hidden in nature, surrounded by peace and quiet, the song of birds and the soft grunt of wild boars in the distance. At the covered pool, open a bottle of wine and enjoy the enchanting view. The pool is beautiful and offers wonderful cooling during the hot Portuguese days. The garden is a fairytale oasis full of atmosphere, rich in plants and trees that attract buzzing bees, bumblebees and colorful butterflies. The house is magnificent, with attention to every detail and a kitchen where really everything has been thought of. We experienced unforgettable, warm and cozy vacation days here. We enjoyed first two weeks with children and grandchildren and then another romantic week together. Hostess Lotte is fantastic: warm, caring and always willing to help. A dream vacation that touched our hearts we are already looking forward to next time!

Wat een paradijs! Het huisje ligt verscholen in de natuur, omringd door rust, het gezang van vogeltjes en het zachte geknor van wilde zwijntjes in de verte. Bij het zwembad met overkapping open je een fles wijn en geniet je van het betoverende uitzicht. Het zwembad is prachtig en biedt heerlijke verkoeling tijdens de warme Portugese dagen. De tuin is een sprookjesachtige oase vol sfeer, rijk aan planten en boompjes die zoemende bijen, hommels en kleurrijke vlinders aantrekken. Het huis is schitterend, met oog voor elk detail en een keuken waarin werkelijk overal aan is gedacht. We hebben hier onvergetelijke, warme en sfeervolle vakantiedagen beleefd. Wij genoten eerst twee weken met kinderen en kleinkinderen en daarna nog een romantisch weekje samen. Gastvrouw Lotte is fantastisch: warm, zorgzaam en altijd bereid om te helpen. Een droomvakantie die ons hart heeft geraakt we kijken al uit naar de volgende keer!
