Nature house in Selva

The casita is located on the La Mina San Cayetano estate, a former coal mining complex that operated until 1986. On the property there are a total of four completely different casitas, one of which is occupied by the Dutch landlords. The nature house is the most spacious of all four. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two terraces (one on the south side and one on the west side) and a spacious kitchen. From the south terrace you have views of the orange grove and the valley near Inca, Mallorca's third largest city. Selva lies against the foot of the Tramuntana mountain ridge. If you want to go into the mountains, you can get there in a few minutes. The town of Selva itself has about 1,000 inhabitants. It has a nice little square near the relatively very large church where there are a number of terraces and restaurants where you can eat simple, but also haut cuisine. It is allowed to walk everywhere on the estate, where you will find the vineyard, the orange grove, a kind of "jungle under construction" and the old buildings of the mine (see also the pictures). Guests get a remote control for the gate and the car can be parked inside the gate.

Selva and the surrounding area is very quiet, sitting far away from the mass tourism in Palma (although you can get there relatively quickly within 30 minutes by car). You can see the hoopoe (for those not in the know: a bird) there regularly, as well as the red kite (Milano Real in Spanish). Even during high summer, the area is a green oasis; the land is irrigated almost everywhere through an extensive system of water pipes, drippers and sprinklers. Water is a precious liquid on the island and the property is fortunate that the old mine shafts are all full of water. Below the old, steel mine tower, this water is pumped and stored in three large water basins. This water also comes out of the tap in the cottages. It is fine water, odorless, colorless, but the landlords still recommend not drinking it unless it is boiled, so for tea it is fine.
