Nature and surroundings

The farmhouse is set in a one-hectare garden and has been largely landscaped as a small nature reserve with two ponds, a flower meadow, and the edge of a forest. The many paths and seating areas each offer a different view of the landscape. Roe deer, stone martens, badgers, and buzzards are regular visitors to the garden. In addition, kingfishers, white-throated dippers, sparrowhawks, goldfinches, great spotted woodpeckers, green woodpeckers, and many other rare birds have been spotted here. There are no fewer than five remarkable national parks in the area: the Drents-Friese Wold National Park is the closest, just a 10-minute bike ride away. And there are also the Dwingelderveld, the Weerribben-Wieden, the Alde Feanen, and the Drentse Aa. All are within a 45-minute drive. But there’s also plenty to discover outside the national parks. Several smaller natural gems are nearby, perfect for hiking, biking, or canoeing.

It doesn't get any better than this.
Surrounded by beautiful nature, open spaces, and tranquility

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

We had a wonderful time. After a warm welcome and a tour of the cottage.
Everything about the cottage is perfect—the layout, the atmosphere, the space, and the coziness. It’s clean, and everything we needed was already there, including towels and even coffee and tea.
