This ruralhut is a large stone built watermill, full of character, renovated in a rustic style, set in a special river side setting. A wonderful place off grid rustic experience in a unique setting away from it all. Downstairs the large open plan kitchen and dining space is well equipped for up to 10 guests. There is a double bedroom with vaulted ceiling, and a shower room with toilet. Stairs lead up from kitchen into the middle of three bedrooms, from Which you access one double bedroom, one three or four single bedroom and the bathroom with bath, basin and toilet. Every room has special views of river, garden or countryside, and the double room at the front has a separate balcony and stone stairs to the garden. Knobs are simple and quirky, with many hand-made pieces. All bedding and bedlinen is oversupplied but you must bring your own towels. The ruralhut has an untouched, rural setting at the end of a 1 km rugged farm track.
Nature and surroundings
The mill gives amazing access to the great outdoors. The Lanzo river runs down one side of the garden and is great for a cooling splash or swim. It is a place of natural tranquility, perfect for yoga and meditation or just relaxing. We are close to: the Val D'Orcia World Heritage area; Monte Amiata which offers summer mountain biking and rope courses. Frequently seen wildlife include: deer, wild boar, porcupine, tortoise, reptiles, fish; Birds zoals Hoo Poo, Bee Eaters, Heron, White Egrets, Nightingales, Golden Orioles. We are surrounded by woodland, olive groves and vineyards, How many followers through many tracks can be followed. The local beaches vary from the Alberese Nature Reserve to long, quiet sandy bays backed with pine woodland, to others with bars hidden in sand dunes and kite and wind surf hire. Petriolo sulfur springs is nearby along with the wealth of beautiful countryside south Tuscany sacrifices.

Fraaie oude molen in de middle of nowhere. De vriendelijke eigenaren wonen ernaast en spelen graag een potje tennis of ander spelletje mee en zitten vol adviezen over (wat te doen in) de omgeving.
Prachtige omgeving met een kabbelend riviertje achter de oude molen (als het niet al vier maanden niet geregend heeft), en heuvels vol wijngaarden, olijfbomen en witte straatjes. De eigenaren kennen een mooie afgelegen zwavelbron, vlakbij maar veel rustiger dan de Bagni de Petriolo.

Heerlijke plek om te zijn, mooie pizza-oven, zeer sfeervol huis, goede keuken, zeer uniek en zeer zeer aan te bevelen.
Heerlijke plek, heel bijzonder! Lekker stil, mooi wandelen langs de rivier, echt even weg van de wereld. We hebben er erg van genoten. Bij veel zon is het heerlijk zitten in de vele schaduwplekken, en de sterrenhemel s nachts is geweldig. Je kan niet met iedere auto bij het huisje komen - daarvoor is het pad te slecht. Het is ruim 10 minuten lopen vanaf een parkeerplek naar de auto. Dat klinkt onhandig maar vonden wij niet echt erg - het draagt bij aan het gevoel even helemaal weg te zijn van de rest. De verhuurders zijn zeer zeer behulpzaam en kunnen met hun jeep zware spullen, bv boodschappen, ophalen zodat je daarmee niet hoeft te lopen. Het is dus geen probleem, maar het is goed te weten dat je met een normale auto niet moet proberen om bij het huisje te komen. Een meer suv-achtige auto, die wat hoger op zijn wielen staat, zal er geen geen probleem mee hebben.

The setting is perfect. The owners are extremely gentl and helpfull. The mill is big with thick walls and even in hot days quit cool. The outside space and terrace is heavenly. However this is not a place for people who need high comfort. (very) Limited electricity supply, A small refrigarator makes it impossible to cool enough drinks to take along for daytrips and to cool enough foodsupply. So regularly trips to nearest town are necessary when you are with 5 persons like we were. We stayed in places off the grid before but never had that little power available. Low water pressure in bathroom but not really a big issue, it just takes a lot longer to fill the tub. Rather thin matrasses on the beds but clean and fresh sheets weekly. The owners provided us with lots of information and suggestions for daytrips that you would never get from internet or tourist infopoints as they know the region really really well. My elder sons are quit adventurous and thanks to Rob's suggestions we discovered hidden gems of Toscany. Overall our two weeks were over before we knew it, what is always a good sign. This place is all about "the feeling". I certainly felt it and would return... We want to thank the landlords for their care, we felt very welcome. It is a "warm" place to stay. The advantages make forget the disadvantages I described. THANKS
It is a little piece of heaven... For me the perfect location, absolutely quiet and peacefull. No other sounds than nature... the river, insects, birds, deer... Perfect to unwind and leave all daily stress behind for some days
