Nature and surroundings
Nearby there are several nature reserves. De Putting is one of the few real old-land areas left in Zeeland. There is also the Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe, the largest brackish water salt marsh in Europe, and near Terneuzen the Margarethapolder as a new nature reserve about 15 kilometers away. The Stropersbos near Clinge and Stekene is perfect for hiking (300ha) The famous and controversial Hedwigepolder is within cycling distance; the Belgian part is already realized as a nature reserve and open to the public. Furthermore, Plan Perkpolder is in progress and portions have already been realized. One polder has already been returned to the Westerschelde; it is a 15-minute walk from the nature house, and in 2023 the realization of a new inner dike nature reserve will be ready.
